I think the thing that bothered me most about the accidents that I've come up on is the quiet. The bodies torn apart, but the peacefulness that surrounds it. Scares the crap out of me..

no police? Look at these countries, people just drive by. No one cares. Its amazingly horrible how bad it is in these countries.

But you know what this makes me realize? I got caught behind a horrible accident in Georgia in April of 2005. We were on the highway and I suddenly saw all this black smoke. Traffic stopped and we didn't move a single inch in 5 hours. We were so confused as to why we weren't allowed to pass. I got out and tried to get some info, but police were very adamant about keeping us onlookers away. I was told by another bystander that they were looking for a finger. A few people were pronounced dead at the scene. Anyway...this makes me realize I'm glad that in the U.S. the police usually keep the public away from sights like this. It seems annoying, but when I think about what horrors car accidents hold, I would rather get re-routed or stopped than see something like this video.
