The driver had at least a second to react and turn the tiniest amount to completely avoid him; he could probably see a lot farther than the dashcam can show. While it might be silly for the cyclist to stop with no lights, the alternator could have stopped working and caused his bike to suddenly break down with a dead battery, right before being sent to oblivion by the car not too far behind him |

Determining how well the driver could see compared to the cam is speculative at best. Assuming you’re correct about a break down, common sense says biker should have looked behind for those things you CAN see far away; headlights. |
