you have to let a mortar tube cool or you risk this, they obviously did not have the water cooling attachment or the knowledge,3 rounds in under ten seconds is a good as jumping off a building, its called a mortar team for a reason, 4 tubes divided between 18 men, shot in sequence not one after another from the same tube.
