India. A man, 50-year-old Laxman P. R. got into a fierce argument with his 35-year-old former live-in partner, Kalpana B. In a fit of rage, Laxman attacked her head with a hammer, fracturing her skull.

After seeing her collapsing in a pool of blood, assuming she had died he turned a kitchen knife on himself, slitting his own throat twice and stabbing his abdomen multiple times on the roadside.

He collapsed on the street and died from his self-inflicted wounds shortly after.

The woman, Kalpana, survived the critical head injuries. Emergency services rushed her to a private facility before transferring her to the government-run Hamidia Hospital, where she is currently receiving intensive medical treatment.

According to investigations, Laxman (a private driver whose wife passed away 5 years ago) consistently doubted Kalpana's character.

The couple had been fighting heavily for a month, prompting Kalpana to move out and live separately on rent in Kokta. Laxman intercepted and attacked her while she was out for work with her daughter.

The liver is completely enclosed in a thin, protective membrane aka the liver capsule. This membrane is highly packed with pain receptors, not the liver itself.
