It's an easy cleanup with some bleach from the grocery section. I don't think it was fake. Seems totally believable...unless those people or voice-overs are actors and the blood is CGI. Not much blood can be stored in a pouch under his shirt. Cmon!!!

"A man slit his own throat with a Stanley knife in a busy branch of Woolworths and bled to death in front of horrified staff.

The shocking scenes happened on Thursday as the store in the centre of Penzance, Cornwall, was packed with shoppers.

Witnesses said the 23-year-old local man had been seen stalking the streets and threatening passers-by. He then went into the shop and made for the hardware section where the grabbed the knife and began brandishing it at terrified customers.

Staff managed to guide families away from the man and out of the shop. They then tried to reason with him while a 999 call was made.

But the man then turned the knife on himself and slashed at his neck. He died minutes later after cutting a major artery.

A South West Ambulance spokeswoman said: "There was no way this man could have been saved. These types of blades for DIY work might be small but they are very sharp.

"If the jugular in the throat is cut then the person will die very quickly.

"This would have been horrifying for anyone at the scene."

One woman in the town Hayley James, 45, said it was lucky the incident happened in term time or the store, a favourite for toys and games, would have been packed with children.

She said: "Even so there would have been mums and dads with little tots in there. It must have been a nightmare."

The horrifying incident started just after 3pm when the man walked into the shop.

Terrified staff saw he was carrying the knife and could see he was distressed, and they started to clear people out.

But before anyone could prevent him the man, said to be in his twenties or thirties, started slashing himself with the blade.

Members of the Penzarice town centre CCTV team were among the people who called 999, telling the operator they could see a man at the store covered in blood.

Another caller was kept on the phone by the operator as they were said to be "very distressed" and needed to be "talked through what to do".

Onlookers told ambulance staff that they believed the man was local to the area and suffered from mental health problems."

Stranger and stranger. You say Australia, but the article mentions Penzance, Cornwall which is in the South East of the UK.

I've found this article from 2007 and a man did actually die after slitting his throat in Woolworths, but I don't think that this video is of that event. Back in 2007 camera 'phones weren't that good quality, particularly for video. The article was on the 'old look' BBC website, and Woolworths went out of business in 2009, here in the UK. I may be wrong of course. What do others think?

Woolworths has offered counselling to Penzance staff

A man brandishing a knife slashed himself across the throat in a Cornish town's Woolworths store.
Penzance shoppers fled in panic as the man entered the store at about 1500 BST on Thursday.

An ambulance service spokesman said the 23-year-old local man died within minutes after sustaining self-inflicted arm and throat injuries.

A police spokesman called it "horrific for everyone watching". Nobody else was involved in the incident.

Died 'in minutes'

According to a South West Ambulance spokesman the man entered the store and began walking up and down the aisles waving the knife about.

Woolworths staff quickly cleared customers from the shop and alerted the police and ambulance services.

By the time an ambulance crew arrived at the scene, the man had slashed his throat and had already died.

The ambulance spokesman added said: "Unfortunately the man died within minutes."

A spokeswoman for Woolworths said the store would remain closed on Friday.

She said: "Yesterday's events were extremely disturbing for our colleagues and our priority now is to ensure their welfare and we are supporting them in every way possible.

"We will only reopen the store when we feel it is right to do so and our staff will have our ongoing support."

It's definitely Australia, they have the accent and he clearly says they're at Woolworths in Auburn, Google "Auburn Woolworths" and it comes up with articles about it. Good to finally see something Aussie on here
