Justified shooting.

In this instance, it took place in Ohio, which has had a Stand your Ground (Castle Doctrine) law on the books for quite a while, and the 2018 amendment to the law makes this incident a fully justified shooting.

Since the intruder was physically breaking into a home, and the home owner had no idea if they were armed, or even what their intention was, they were in a legal position to use lethal force.

As the law is written, the home owner actually didn't have to even issue a warning, and so long as they hadn't been at fault in creating the incident, they are protected by castle doctrine.

Keep in mind that, in many stand your ground states, the legal requirement for someone to withdraw from a situation if they are able to do so has been abolished, particularly if they are in their home or vehicle.

A man was reportedly shot after attempting to break into his ex-girlfriend’s home, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. As of right now, it is unconfirmed who shot the man. The man died of his injuries on the scene.

The man has been identified as James Douglas Rayl, 22, of Sidney.

The shooting occurred on the 2900 block of North Kuther Road at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Rayl started beating on the door, the homeowner told the subject to leave and that he had a gun.

Rayl then shouldered the door several times eventually breaking the door open and started to enter the residence. Once Rayl entered the door, the homeowner fired three rounds. He then staggered back to the front of the garage where he fell.

Doesn't matter if he had a knife or weapon of ANY kind - or NOTHING. You force your way into a home, you're eating lead! Most states have a castle doctrine which means you have the right to defend your home with deadly force.

He has that 'look' of a menace. I'm betting there was a pretty good history there, If he'd been at my door and tried that, I would have shot his stupid ass on the first shoulder bump. He was fucking warned.
