I had a similar incident in 2017 where a 17 year old drug dealer threatened to kill me at 2 other people in front of my business. I told him not to get any closer, but he proceeded to do that. I called HPD and held him by gunpoint for a period of time till they showed up. I would have almost ended up in that similar situation. Lucky for me the 17 year old turd was arrested and convicted for terroristic threat. Would it been legal to shoot him under Texas Penal Code? My interpretation would have been yes, since there was 2 videos from my security cameras of the incident. Cops were surprised that I did not shoot the drug dealer.

I dropped a guy in 2012 at Academy sports in San Antonio who was car jacking a guy parked to the rear of my truck. Of course it took a year to get that gun back from the PD but one of the cops actually said “ damn good shoot, don’t let this bother you, you did the right thing and did it the right way” of course the I had to stay for the whole death investigation more or less but they didn’t even take me down to the station just walked over gave me a receipt for my handgun and let me go. There was no grand jury I have carry insurance so my lawyer was involved but he even told me the PD was saying they needed nothing else from me. This was at 1:15 or so in the afternoon. I did attempt to render aid after the shooting but two to the chest and one to the head from roughly 5 yards from a .45 there wasn’t much I could do. If you ever drop the hammer on someone ( I’m sure you know) you have a duty to render aid after the threat is stopped.

After a .45 shot to the head the only aid you could give would be to gather up the brain bits from the floor and tuck them back into his skull, then plug the holes to stop the leaking.
