It's more difficult to get automatic rifles like they use in school shootings, but this is done by more clever children, not very small ones.
A small one should have easy acces to a gun however.

All new guns in the us get shipped with locks and If you have children in the house with guns lying around social workers WILL show up.

Been handling guns since 11. First thing any kid I've seen shoot learns:

1 keep unloaded when not using it

2 never point at something your not willing to destroy

3 finger off the trigger until ready to fire

4 treat any gun as it where loaded even when checked.

but asshats grow even in the us

I honestly blame the parents of any kid who shoots off a gun that he FOUND LOADED ON A TABLE
