A bullet's trajectory is parabolic. It curves downwards as distance increases. The scope's line of sight is below the barrel's axis and crosses the bullet's path twice. You need to calibrate your scope at a preset distance and then it can be adjusted up/down and left/right, according to the distance of your target, the direction of the wind and the characteristics of your projectile (mass and velocity).
