The incident took place when two brothers ended up in a brawl in a local cricket match and they ended up injuring four people. The charged mob got out-raged and started beating the two brothers. The beating got so brutal that the two brothers lost their lives and all the people of Sialkot considered it a lesson well taught."

"The family said the youths were killed in the wake of a dispute over a cricket match they played some time ago."

"The Deputy Commissioner of Sialkot said a charged mob killed the two brothers for injuring four people in a dispute over a cricket match."


"Islamabad: Justice (retd) Malik Kazim who investigated the case of two brothers lynched by a mob of Sialkot on August 15, said in its report that the boys were not robbers or hardened criminals and not a single cases of snatching and robbery motive has never been reported against them."

Dawn reported that the court sentenced seven of the convicts to death, gave life term to six others and jailed nine policemen for three years."
