Yes.. from what I heard on the news.. they were about 3 meters from the ground when it got bad. The pilot and two others jumped off right before the balloon shot upwards.

So, the outer skin came off the balloon then? I heard on the news that a hose connecting the propane tank to the burner was leaking and that that's what caused the fire. That must have been a nightmare for those people. I also heard reports or people on fire jumping from the gondola, but I can't see it in the vid.
