Tips: If you get pushed onto/fall onto the tracks, don't try clambering up onto the platform on your own with the train coming your way. You hide yourself under the platform and press yourself against the wall leaving as little of you sticking out. Ditch your backpack or purse. If you're in a tunnel there's usually stairs at the end of each one but if not again don't try for jumping onto the platform unless you're both very tall and very athletic. You can try laying between the tracks but trains do have mechanical components on their undercarriages that can drag you or worse. Once the train passes call for help and hopefully someone'll notify the transit workers and you'll be out of there in no time, in one piece.

HBO used to have a show called "Taxicab Confessions". One of the episodes had a firefighter explaining this to the driver. A producer for "Homicide: Life on the Street" saw that and made an episode about it.
