Re: Drowning Latin Girl (+ CPR on Big Boobs)
I'm with ginapoof. I'm an EMT, a CPR instructor, and just about finished with Paramedic school. I have worked many arrests in the field, and the only ones that were successful saves, were those where CPR had been started before we arrived. The groans you hear are one of the first signs of return of spontaneous circulation. As for breathing for the patient, it is no longer recommended to do mouth-to-mouth on a patient prior to EMS arriving on scene. Too great a risk of exposure for little benefit. We only use a bag valve mask when working an arrest. Doing chest compressions to restart the heart is top priority. While I agree that it was not anywhere close to textbook compressions, it obviously worked. A poor attempt is better than no attempt at all. |

Re: Drowning Latin Girl (+ CPR on Big Boobs)
Usually a good idea to check a pulse before starting CPR. Clearly she had one and jsut needed to get the water out her lungs which would have been an easier task had they put her head down the beach not head up...but like said at least they did something and she looks like she recovered but who knows. Her eyes never went to glass like they do when you die so she I guess didn't get excited about much ;)
