I am not defending the cops actions but many criminals fake this sort of condition to try and escape. It doesn't help that he fits the the description of a type who would try and run away.

Obviously he must have done something wrong in order to run from the officers the way he did, to the point of killing himself. Yes, the officers have sworn an oath to protect human life, but how were they to determine that this person had the sickle cell trait? Do you expect them to reach for his confidential medical records and act accordingly? These officers were doing their job of attempting to arrest a criminal, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t mean for the fucker to croak. If you read the story you’ll see that the officers did attempt CPR, maybe not as soon as they should have, but then again, he shouldn’t have been running from them in the first place.

it bothers me that after doing the "sternum rub" several times by multiple officers, it's obvious the guy is unconscious & unresponsive. They kept asking "Sir, Sir" these guys that were ranked "Captain Obvious" are now demoted to "Lieutenant Obvious". "To Protect and Serve" my ass. So quick with the gun to kill in "self defense", but not so quick to protect the "citizen". Where is the HONOR in this? I see no VALOR in this incident regardless of the outcome. I don't care if he was black or white or even a Saint or Bin Laden, if he's your responsibility, own up to it. There is no excuse, so stop letting your opinions get the worst of you.

When we have a problem in the future with a disproportionately high number of pre-pubescent white girls high on drugs, selling drugs, theiving, robbing, raping, and killing ... perhaps we will treat them with the same suspicion as this man, after resisting arrest (perhaps from the scene of his crime?) and running from police. At no time did he say he had a medical condition,.. no alert bracelet or such to identify a pre existing condition... Maybe the cops even knew this guy from (many) previous interactions. If he had a serious condition that he had told them of, he could have saved his own life.

At face value I say it is the cops doing their shitty job the best they can, versus the same group of troubled dipshits in their jurisdiction. Yes I will agree they did many things wrong, but should they hang for it? No way. Unless of course we get more info on the particulars of this case that may shed more light. We don't have much to go on here but conjecture!

BTW I am the guy hating on the police usually , for their behaviour and jack boot bullshit. But I still try to be reasonable, and colour blind. These liberal retards screaming "civil rights' every time a black guy gets arrested makes me sick. Arrest any one who is threatening public peace. black or white. If you have to slightly compromise their rights to protect the rest of us FINE. Those are the rights of the rest of the people being protected.

Poor dude, what a shitty way to die. I almost died twice from asphyxiation and that was by far the scariest/funniest shit of my life. The first time I was eating nachos at school in 7th grade and some how the chip went down my throat sideways and cut off my breathing. In a state of panic, I started punching myself in the throat and it broke up the chip. I lived. The second time was just a few days ago. I was hungry for something sweet in the middle of the night so I stumbled into the kitchen half asleep and wasn't able to find anything but some of that honey that comes in the little bear shaped bottle. So I squirted some of that shit in my mouth and within 5 seconds I realized my throat felt like it was swelling up. Didn't realize that I was allergic to the clover in the honey. Fuck that shit.
