Re: Brave Syrian Rebel Takes Out Tank

Re: Brave Syrian Rebel Takes Out Tank
The other video is posted here somewhere, several pages back, I think. THAT video is a lot clearer, one tank down for sure, though if it was actually the anti-tank rpg that was shown being fired in the first part of the video, that's hard to say. |

Re: Brave Syrian Rebel Takes Out Tank
i am 100% sure that the rocket from an RPG is more than capable of penetrating the frontal armour of that tank. RPG ordnance is specifically armour-piercing, and it wasn't until the advent of reactive armour plating implemented in the First Gulf War that tanks could safely deflect them. Some t-72s have been outfitted with reactive frontal armour plates but its rare.... kill shot. |

Re: Brave Syrian Rebel Takes Out Tank
Tanks in the city without infantry support = death. My people learn that during the first Chechen war in Grozny. Its hard to say exactly what kind of shoulder mounted weapon it was, and what kind of ammo was used. Im guessing it was RPG-7 with a modern PG round. The Chechens had a good tactic of deploying RPGs and finding the weak spots of T-72s and even T-80s. The turret ring between the turret and the body is very vulnerable. A well aimed shot between the turret and the body will guarantee a penetration. That jet stream from a shaped charge will cut there like butter and will detonate the ammunition inside. Ballsy move by the Syrian rebel for sure, but they are not afraid of death so this kind of behavior will be common in the middle east. Im also wondering about people behind the tank on the other side. You can see their feet. I wonder if those are Assads troops, or maybe someone ran up behind and managed to place some kind of a charge on to the engine area of the tank. |
