when i took lifeguarding as a kid and if you go to someone that is trying to get on top of you like that kid did.....the easiest way to stop it is to swim down.....they lose their ability to ride you then ......then you swim horizontally ......or in a pool case......swim to the bottom and use it to shoot yourself up to the surface ..the prick on top wont be able to stop you no matter what......sharp exhale/scream.....hold breath do it again...panicking drowning person or a vengeful cousin are one of the same in this scenario.

You can't always do that, I'm thinking if you're at the deepest end of the pool, if it's 2,50/3,00 meters (≈8.2/9.8 ft) deep it isn't that easy to reach the bottom for a non-expert swimmer.

I guess it also depends on how much air you have in your lungs when the drowning attempt begins 🤔
If the attacker is smart he'll wait for you to exhale completely before pushing you to the bottom.

But hey
In the end it comes down to the level of preparation and "swift-thinking" of both the attacker and the attacked, just like in many other situations.

Idk how long ago you were a kid, but if a person intentionally is trying hold you under water, and catches you off guard where you dont get a good breath of air before going under, trying to swim down is not going to work unless they are afraid to submerge. Holding onto someone under water is not hard. That action is best used when a panicked swimmer who in the initial stages of drowning latches on to you. Last place they want to go is under water.

An attack like this, you bite, pinch their triceps areas, scratch eyes and face, try to hit nose, and go for genitals. You literally do every dirty fucking thing you can to make their pain greater than their desire to harm you. That or you dive and make it a who can hold their breath longer contest where you try to harm them as soon as you get their head under water. Biting the face is very effective.
