I have to disagree,, I am a Nurse and have seen a lot of misery, we do use Maggot Debridement Therapy in patients , such as Diabetics who suffer with infectious necrotic wounds, And when all else fails, to prevent having to amputate we use natures micro surgeons to clean out the wound by doing what comes natural to them...eat nastiness. However we use only sterilized fly larvae from the Blue Bottle Fly. These flies only eat Necrotic Tissue. These maggots that have infested this poor mans mouth and jaw are not medical grade maggots, and were not applied purposely. This man neglected to take care of his infection. and the foul odor it emitted attracted the wrong type of fly to come and lay her brood,,more like several flies..while he was sleeping most [likey. What makes it worse and most unfortunate for him is that these maggots look to me like Cochliomyia Homnivorax..in layman's terms. The Screwfly. Direct translation is Man Eater, these horrific parasites feed primarily on LIVE TISSUE, and they cause the tiniest of wounds to get completely out of control. The slightest touch, or movement causes the Screwfly larvae to literally and all simultaneously dive nose first butt end up "SCREW" themselves deeper into the wound making them appear as if tho they are sinking or caving in, and making them very difficult to remove. Their powerful hook like mouths have good grip too. Believe me when I say that these NASTY MAGGOTS were not purposely put there! ][/I][/I]
