A neck can be broken with a one-foot drop. I depends on the individual's bone structure. An eight-foot drop will usually break a neck, but few people have that luxury. Broken neck or not suspension hanging still takes 30-35 minutes. In case on intervention, a broken spinal cords are not recoverable. That is the only difference.

There are a few ways to hang. Your chosen method would evidently be a drop hanging, but this is just not necessary. Suspension hanging will suffice as the video very clearly shows. The short answer is "no you google it".

I guess anyone has the right to kill themselves if they wish to. Personally I couldn't put my family through the pain. And if anyone else is suicidal I would obviously recommend that they seek help. But at the end of the day, the final decision is theirs.
