Rattlesnake venom causes extreme swelling and tissue necrosis. The doctors cut his arm on purpose..probably to remove the dead tissue.

I think it is because the bite would keep getting swollen, so the doctors would have to cut the arm open before the skin would burst. Or its entierly the snake :>

the snake didnt do the nasty cuts on his arm... the doctors did. they have to cut his arm open to relieve pressure from swelling. and to some extent the snake venom digested his skin.
