It looks like he suffered from malnutrition and diabetes type 1. This would cause nacrotic (dead) tissue. In extreme cases the body part totally dies but rarely falls off. He may have cut them off as he would not have any nerves endings alive, so feel no pain of his dead feet. I feel sorry for the old bloke. |

He may have lost his feet but, on the bright side, he has enough food now to last him a week or so.... I even wrote a quick poem in honour of him, and the cannibalistic potential of his unique situation:- Rotting flesh on my feet Is the sweetest of meat, Juices and textures galore. I forget all my woes When I gobble my toes, I wish I was born with 10 more. |
