Exactly my thoughts. I saw this awhile back and it just didn't seem right to me and I couldn't figure out what was not adding up. Now I see today. His stumps would not of looked that way if his feet had been cut off. The black feet cause me to believe they just sloughed off after the weather warmed up. He is sleeping outdoors and it looks like spring and his feet thawed out and rotted off. There is just no way to remove feet with a knife and leave edges like that and not cut off the bone at the area where the cut occured.
