Someone asked if you can donate skin -- don't know about living tissue (although I don't see why not), but when my mom died, she was a tissue donor. I was told that they were able to harvest about 3-4 square feet from her back, thighs, etc. The tissue bank people told me that those pieces would be cleaned, sterilized and essentially flash-frozen and could keep for several years until needed for skin grafts, burn victims, etc. I was also told that burn victims often need 10-15 square feet of skin grafts and obviously they can't grow it all themselves. Since my mom died of a blood clot her organs weren't suitable to donate but her skin, bone and connective tissues were. So that was cool, and I would do the same thing.
