Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
WTF? You've scratched a couple of zits. I bet there's not a person on the forum who hasn't scratched the top of a few zits or pimples at some stage. I was expecting great suppurating open wounds, the way you were describing it. I bet I have more scabs than you, as I'm always picking at mosquito bites or heat rash, or cuts, or weld spatter burns or something. |

Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
I pick at the skin around my fingernails and toenails and also I chew the fuck out of the inside of my cheeks. I had a huge hole in my lip for a while due to that. If I have a scab I pick it until I have a fucking wound larger than the original one. It's fucking stupid but I'm getting better with it. And it's not just picking a zit or a scab. It's the absolute need to pick that sucks. You'll sit there and somehow run across a scab and then you have to pick. If you don't you get anxious and it just winds up being worse. Hopefully everyone on here who suffers from this finds relief. |

Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
I have this too. I have ADHD and I love to pick. I am also addicted to plucking out hairs, I pluck my pubic hair, armpit hair, leg hair and eyelashes/eyebrows. I would pick every hair if I could as I really enjoy it and if I leave hairs it feels like the roots are itching like worms inside my skin.

Re: Dermatillomanie (my Photos)
Thanks for sharing, I think my mum may have this problem! She's always picking at her skin. I have been biting my nails for years, and now that I am getting into nursing we are advised to keep them neat and clean (which means no more biting, ugh). I would often bite my entire nail off without even realising it. I have managed to let them grow now a little though, because of my study, also with the help of some of that nailpolish stuff that tastes awful. I think the nails will be gone again at exam time though lol. It's probably not as bad as this condition you speak of, but I kinda know how you feel |
