They could of entered thru her nose and made their way to her brain thru her sinuses. Of course they wouldn't of been full blown size maggots at that point, would of still had to of been eggs.
how does a person get maggots? i thought it only forms in decomposing deceased people?

Person doesn't have to be dead to get maggots. Maggots are fly larvae, so where ever a fly lays eggs maggots can be. They prefer dead or rotting flesh but like warm squishy places as well.

I reckon tumour or growth on the top of her head. That removes the top of the skull as it grows out of the bone up there.

At some point, there is a removal of the tumour and flies enter wound.

.. except for that level of surgery, it needs a intensive care ward for post operative care. Such wards generally have high levels of hygeine unless the infection happened in the care if the family?

Fucking flies... hate their opportunistic asses!
