My mother had a cousin with this type of birth defect she lived
to be 60yrs old but could only walk by sliding her butt on the
floor because the weight of her head would not support her
body.She never went to school because back in the 50's
parents hid their children who suffered these type
of conditions from public view. There was no programs to
accomodate certain handicapped children such as these in the school system so they had no choice but to be forever
supported by family members and ridiculed and pitied by
society it was a sad state of affairs.
