The fact that she cut the word 'Hate' into her arm leads me to believe that she might be cutting because of something that was done to her. I started doing self injury when I was 4, due to the fact that I felt evil and dirty from abuse and I wanted to get all that out of me. I used to cut words that indicated those things. As I got older I cut Shakespearean Quotes about death into my arms and other places. Some of my cuts were fairly superficial while others required many stitches and hospitalizations. I have scars from elbow to wrist on both arms, and now that I am older I am ashamed of my arms, but at the same time the tell a story. Right now I see it as the past, I can't change it, or fix it, and I can't take away my scars, but I can move on and try to help others. |
