everybody's self harm is different, there is really no reason to make fun of someone else's because it doesn't come close to yours. what if you showed your cuts and then i laughed and said "shit, mine are deeper than that"?

Yes all self harm is different, I wasn't 'making fun' I was pointing out that those are scratches not cuts, It's not a competition. I wouldn't show my scars on the internet because it's bad enough I have to see them every day no one else should have to

it might come in different forms, some scratch, some cut, some burn, some hit themselves or break bones, and God knows what else. the thing is, it's still a desire to harm oneself which is a mental aberration.

perhaps you didn't mean it to seem like a competition, but this sentence, "I used to cut myself for years due to mental illness and calling that cutting is an insult.", very much sounds like competition to me.

everyone is a bit of an attention whore, it's just the degree we all argue about.

By that I mean I used to cut my skin right open sometimes to the bone and have to go to hospital for blood transfusions and stitches in my arms and legs. Those scratches are superficial and only bleed a few drops so it's not the same thing. Again, Wasn't trying to make out it's 'a competition' in any way I was pointing out that she's scratching not cutting. Also if she's doing this due to mental health issues she should be getting help not posting pictures on-line surely? It was never a priority of mine to show the world how ill I was

let's not argue. we just see things differently. we can agree to disagree. i don't know about you, but i'm glad to be beating this. i'm coming up on 13 months cut free.

Same here it's north worth arguing over it I've been cut free for nearly 5 years now but I still harm in other ways, The main 2 being overdoses and pulling my hair out so I'm still not free from self harming I hope you can keep up the good work staying cut free

i kno a lot about this stuff.... she obviously did this for attention. when she didnt get attention she started to do it out of pain.
it turns into an addiction, and it starts to not hurt after a while
