I think going to a strangers funeral just to point and laugh would be disrespectful and insensitive, but doing so on a gore site is different. I doubt many grieving families are going to start browsing DR while the loss is still fresh and the victims in the pictures sure as shit won't be. Being able to laugh about death is a good thing, because it takes away a lot of the fear and anxiety surrounding your own imminent demise if you have a good idea what will happen afterwards and accept death for what it really is: the one experience every single one of us will share.

You have a valid point. The mean-spirited [pun intended] sort of jokes about the dead (The ones that are racist in particular) were more what my comment was directed at. But thank you for a polite and well thought out response.
