The victim of a drive-by shooting on the Pontchartrain Expressway this afternoon has been identified as a 20-year-old New Orleans man.

Ralph Bias died from several gunshot wounds, said John Gagliano, the Orleans Parish coroner's office chief investigator.

Bullets exploded amid steady traffic about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday near the South Broad Street overpass.

Several bullets entered a black sports car, hitting the driver and a passenger, according to police. The car came to a halt in the breakdown lane.

The driver, 20, died inside the car, according to New Orleans Police Department Deputy Chief Marlon Defillo. Paramedics rushed a second victim, a 19-year-old man, to the LSU Trauma Center in critical condition, said Jeb Tate, a New Orleans EMS spokesman
