According to information garnered by the CCN about 6:40 a.m., a Leyland garbage truck registered CG 2054 driven by Aston Williams of a Kingston address was travelling along Hagley Park Road, heading towards Half Way Tree. On reaching a section of the road, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Toyota Tacoma which was travelling in the same direction. The impact caused the Tacoma to slam into a Honda motor car which was also heading for Half Way Tree. The four women who were standing on the sidewalk were hit by the Leyland truck.
