Re: Macabre Garbage

Amazing what you can find in the trash.....here's the story of what we fondly refer to as the "Dead Man's Dumpster":

Over 20 yrs ago, hubby and I were out riding our bikes in Long Beach, CA, and we saw a HUGE dumpster overflowing with nice furniture and other interesting stuff. There were a lot of other people trashpicking, so we stopped to see what was up. We were amazed that what we saw was not trash, but contents of an old person's home.....We began to look in the dumpster along with about 7 other peope. Then a man came running out from a house and told everyone to go away, there would be an estate sale in a few days, and he'd call the cops if he saw anyone else rummage in the dumpster. Well, times were tough, and we were into treasure hunting and trashpicking (lol), and having garage sales to resell things. So hubby and I went back late at night with the car. We filled that cadillac with everything from suits to antique kitchen gadgets, to WW1 mementos. We excitedly made a few trips back home to empty the car, and went back for more. The deeper hubby dug, the more cool stuff there was. After going from one end of the dumpster to the other (it was a really long one) He tunneled under all the stuff in there, and found a bunch of antique dental equipment. We even found his ID and driver's license. We were getting to know this dead guy pretty well...How sad! Then, my husband found a skull!! In fact, he found what looked like a whole skeleton. It was all scattered in the bottom of the dumpster in pieces, so hubby just took the skull. Not realizing how cool it actually was to own a skull, (haha) I gave it to my macabre brother, who still has it to this day. The skull was in perfect condition and had every tooth intact. We guessed the Dr. must have had it for a long time, as it is now illegal to possess, buy, or sell human bones, according to ebay. The ones you see nowadays are made of acrylic and look real--nearly impossible to tell the difference. We kept some of the stuff, and sold most of it by holding a garage sale a few weekends. We made a few thousand dollars, and I still have some of the Dead Man's Dumpster stuff. End of story; Goodnight, children!
haha

Re: Macabre Garbage

The helmet mixed in with the bones reminds me of the film "Wrong Turn."
