Finally diagnosed with PCOS at 20 and given birth control pills. It's disgusting that doctors refused to treat the root cause of my pain at a younger age because they thought my treatment would have made me a "slut." I'm queer and wasn't even attracted to men during that time, much less having sex with them, and would not have thought that hormonal birth control would be life-improving medication. If I had resorted to opioids (and that would have been easy because my dad was a pill junkie and someone from my high school OD'd on opioids when I was 17) I would have become an addict. Thankfully by the time I was injected with fentanyl for an unrelated surgery 3 years ago I was well aware of the opioid crisis and was careful not to fall into dependency and all that could come after.
My sister in law is a lesbian. She had so many problems with her periods and pain, she begged her doctor to give her a hysterectomy but he said she was too young. She told him Look, I'm married to my wife, I've never been with a man and don't want kids. He wouldn't listen thinking she would change her mind. She finally got the hysterectomy, problem was she had a blockage that almost killed her and that's why she got one. We were all so pissed off. This damn Country is still so stuck in the 19th century. Luckily she pulled through1. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. I was given Narcotics before the war on opiates BS. A friend of mine was shot. They sent him home and told him to take Advil. It's so wrong. People on pain management are cut off and the doctors send them to Methadone clinics. These people aren't addicts, they shouldn't be forced to go to a clinic with a bunch of addicts.

This post hits hard, my Step-mother the mother of my younger siblings passed away about 5 years ago from an overdose. Growing up as a kid in the 90's and early 2000's we would go out with our father looking for her while she was a out doing drugs, back in 2017 she met a guy and started doing heroine. She had an overdose and a few months later she passed. It's very sad seeing their parents holding and loving on their children one last time before pulling the plug. One of two of parent's worst nightmares, is to die and leave their children behind or worse, having to burry your child(ern)...

What country do you live in? North Korea? Why didn't your sister go to a different doctor? She "begged her doctor"? Fuck that, doctors aren't God, she should have walked out and told him to go to hell.

oh man, im a former meth addict who used for 6 years and am coming up on six years clean, next may. i tried heroin countless times, but never could get into it because it made me vomit uncontrollably. thank god i didnt, because now im a 100% sober mom to a young kiddo. these pics were a bitter pill to swallow, but it reminded me why ill never return to the homeless, addicted, self destructive, hateful, and despondent reality of my "previous life"
rest in peace to these victims of opiate/ opioid addiction, and i wish their families and friends love and light.

Total I was getting monthly:
360 10mg (10/325) Hydrocodone
360 Soma
240 2mg Xanax bars
60 Ambient

And I was still out for about 10 days per month!!

It’s a story for another day, but after at least 6 hospitalizations for near death accidental overdoses, I am clean now.
Hope you are still around buddy!

It literally doubled in one year and surpassed heroin as the most lethal drug in 2016. You can see for yourself in the first graph where fentanyl is classified with a group called “synthetic opioids other than methadone.” With the trend lines, I’m curious what the 2017 numbers will look like when they’re released.
So looking at the number of deaths as related to age is interesting. If you look at the light blue line it is 25-34, then the next line above that is the next age group with more deaths, then the next above that is 45-54 with the highest number of deaths. Then suddenly the next age group is 55-64 which is below 25-34. I think that shows that drug users die before 55 and are included in the dark blue line. Then the next age group is much lower , 65+. Most of them are way dead before this age. So drug users die early.
