Skid Row is a fucking mess. I went there once to try to score some coke on a trip to L.A. (had never tried heroin at that time) and it was fucked up.

I obviously forgot how fucked up because I still ended up trying heroin 2 years later.

Grateful to be sober from that shit. I overdosed on my 26th birthday. It was the first and the last time.

You didn't storm the beaches of Normandy or pull a kid out of a house fire or battled cancer.

I couldn't give a shit if you typed the word "pussy," you melodramatic twat and men don't have the monopoly on having lived shitty lives nor do they all turn to drugs. So why you're babbling on about fucking frat boys is beyond me..

I'd opt for neither, but alas, that's just me.

I can't stand people who make it their entire identity and treat recovery like it's a fucking personality trait.

This is the main reason I absolutely REFUSE to go to NA meetings. I don't need a fucking chip to remind me to stay sober or a pat on the back everytime I don't stick a needle in my arm.

I feel that people who heavily depend on recovery chips never got a gold star for being a good noodle as a child...and thrive on them because it is the only accomplishment/mature decision they've made as an adult.

Yellow, there's more to those programs than chips
For many people the 12 step program is the only thing that works
But personally, I believe death works 100% of the time.

This one got to me (the one with the woman inconsolablely crying)...I'd be a wreck if I lost my fiance...I'm grateful we are both sober.

I had friends in the early 00s, just random locals i ran with, who were part of NA and AA. They were clean for the most part, but i think after a point NA held them back, because they were keeping company with other low-achieving people with little in the way of human capital (that being business contacts, marketable skills, effective personality traits, etc). god...don't do drugs in the first place. I've done weed and coke and LSD back in my part days and still take hits off someone else's joint every once in a while but FFS don't do the heavy stuff.

AS A DOCTOR, you have spent enough 36-hour red eye shifts around the water cooler to know most of us think this way. Or else you went into private practice after residency and have forgotten what it is to deal with the 3 AM ER crowd.
So you’re basically in it for the $$? I’m sure you have a junkie or two in the family tree no one is untouched by this.. plzz show me one person?? All addictions.. not just H
