Usually a penetration wound from a blunt object won't bleed a lot until the object is taken out. That's why they transport people to the hospital with stuff like road signs and tree limbs sticking out of them.

I wonder if the last one was part of an auto accident. My Dad works construction jobs, and he's heard some stories of guys keeping their tools in the back seat and getting impaled by them in collisions. You really gotta watch where you keep those things when you're driving.
