The Petersons' backyard included a patio, a hot tub and a shed. When police searched the shed on Dec. 27, they found a tan tarp under a leaf blower

The tan tarp found in the shed was drenched with gasoline from a leaky gas blower. Crime scene technicians hung it on a fence to dry out. In his opening statement, prosecutor Rick Distaso noted that gasoline kills biological material, such as DNA and blood.

Police carrying out a search warrant on Dec. 27 found the brown tarp in a shed in the Petersons' backyard. When they
searched his truck on Christmas Eve, the tarp was in the back of his pickup.

Scott Peterson stored this 14-foot aluminum boat in his fertilizer warehouse. Whether his wife knew about the boat, which was purchased on Dec. 9, is a key issue in the trial. Prosecutors have theorized that Peterson used the boat to dispose of his wife's body.

Detective Dodge Hendee holds a pair of pliers he found under a seat in Peterson's boat in this photo taken during the Dec. 27 search of Peterson's warehouse. A 5- to 6-inch dark hair
is barely visible looping through the teeth of the pliers and then down to the ruler on the bottom right of the yellow placard.

Re: police images from inside the home

Hendee testified that he saw the outlines of five circular objects in dust on a flatbed trailer in Peterson's warehouse. Prosecutors noted that the outlines were identical in size to a plastic pitcher apparently used to make cement anchors. Only one anchor was found after Laci Peterson disappeared.
