| 06-07-2007 FAIRFIELD An officer needed 14 stitches after a suspect reportedly punched him in the face several times during a 25-second attack at the police station. Morance Harrison, 23, of Forest Park allegedly attacked Fairfield police Officer Mike Sulfridge just after 1 a.m. Thursday while being booked on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer for stomping on his foot during his arrest outside a local MC Donalds. ![]() Sulfridge was preparing to handcuff Harrison for transport to the Butler County Jail when he asked him to stand and place his hands behind his back. Harrison stood and told the officer, "Take me to jail now (expletive)," and then punched the officer in the face, cutting his left eye, according to police reports. Harrison reportedly punched Sulfridge twice more, cutting him again, before Sulfridge grabbed Harrison around the waist and pushed him against the wall. Harrison then allegedly struck Sulfridge on the back. "After regaining some of my senses, I pushed Harrison away and drew my Taser," Sulfridge recounted in his report. "I ordered him to the ground and he failed to comply." Sulfridge fired his Taser, but Harrison still refused to turn facedown and Sulfridge fired a second time. When officers came to Suldridge's aid, the scuffle, which lasted about half a minute, was over. Fairfield Lt. Ken Colburn said Sulfridge required 14 stitches for the various cuts to his face. Police Chief Mike Dickey said Sulfridge may be off a day or two. "I think people resist arrest and assault police officers all the time. It happens frequently," Dickey said. In February 2006, Sulfridge was thrown from a vehicle and nearly run over by an drunken driving suspect following a struggle during a traffic stop that led to an extended layoff as Sulfridge recovered from his injuries. Harrison was arraigned Thursday in Fairfield Municipal Court, where his bond was set at $500,000 for his charges that now include two counts of assault on a police officer, the second a felony charge, along with two counts of resisting arrest and the disorderly conduct charge stemming from an alleged argument that began outside the fast-food restaurant after 11 p.m. Wednesday between Harrison and Anthony N. Quinn II, who also is charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Although Harrison has a bond on his Fairfield charges, he is being held without bond in Butler County Jail on a failure to appear warrant from Butler County Juvenile Court. What an idiot. That should add a few years to his sentence.
