Man Steals Boat & Trailer; Gets in Police Chase
Deputies were looking for a drug suspect accused of taking off with a stolen boat in tow during a chase Sunday morning. At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday a man called police to report someone hooked up a boat trailer to a Ford pickup in the parking lot of the apartment complex on SE Lawnfield, then took off with the lights off. Ryan Stell told 9-1-1 that the suspects looked drunk and threw beer cans out of the truck as they drove away. Clackamas County deputies soon found the suspect truck and began following the pickup and trailer with lights and sirens on, all of which was captured on dashcam. Deputies said the truck swerved and drove erratically, then eventually made a turn on to SE 82nd Avenue when the boat trailer came off the hitch and careened across lanes. The driver pulled over at one point, then took off again, finally coming to a stop after the chase wound down 82nd. That’s where investigators said Brian Brooks jumped the guardrail and took off into the night. Police and a K9 unit were unable to find him Deputies arrested Brooks’ pregnant girlfriend, 24-year-old Crystal Lee Coburn, who was a passenger in the truck. Police also said they found stolen tools in the truck. Brooks was wanted on methamphetamine charges, and new charges for the stolen vehicle. |
