Re: Stingray Leaping Out of the Water
Yah, stingray's are flatter and pretty much round. Not sure if they can make the velocity to get out of the water like that either like eagle rays and supposedly manta rays. Even when they swim around stingrays are like hovercraft staying pretty close to the bottom of the ocean. They're pretty cool animals any way you cut it. At Grand Cayman there's a sandbar off shore called Stingray City. Big tourist draw, the rays there are so used to people they let you pick them up and wander around them. Used to be an area where the fishermen would drop all the refuse from the day's catch. Now it's just a place where people from the cruise ships go to hang out and feed the rays. Walk off the sand bar and I think it's Hammerhead City, the rays stay on the sandbar because of the shark population in the deeps and the sharks stay off the sandbar even though the water is deep enough to support a fairly large shark swimming around.
