Re: Woman Gets Refund After Sitting Next to Corpse on Flight

If he died after the flight had already taken off, then precautions obviously couldn't have been taken. But they could have come up with a better solution than just laying the corpse across 3 seats.

True. They could have at least made an emergency landing and have the corpse taken to a near morgue. To have your passengers fly overnight with a corpse covered in a blanket is not only disturbing but what kind of shit is that

I know If I was there with kids, i'd ask to be taken off the plane or something

I'm down with it... but that's easy for me to say as I typically see more corpses in a normal day than most do in a lifetime

3. propped open his mouth and see which passenger could get the most peanuts from their airline snack into the guys mouth from where they are sitting.

4. have a writing contest to see who can tell the person waiting for him at his point of arrival (assuming some one would be waiting) the most interesting story they can imagine pertaining to why the guy died in flight. then have the winner actually tell the story to the person when the plane lands.

5. take turns dressing him in clothing that other passengers brought in their carry ons. see who can make him look the sexiest as a travestite.

6. shove something metal down his throat and see how long it takes to get him on another flight.

7. play a body related guessing game. examples: draw a pot on his stomach. correct guess - pot belly. draw a ball and racket on his elbow - tennis elbow. tornado on his tongue- tongue twister. draw a button on his stomach - belly button, a shovel on his shin - shin dig, a sandwich on his knuckles, etc. etc.

8. learn about the human body and let passengers disect him. (an educational flight for sure)

9. play charades using him. example: point to his upper lip (stiff upper lip) or use his arms like you are playing the drums (dead beat) etc.

10. find something dangling and long such as a womans hair extension and play pin the tail on the dead man.
This!

Re: Woman Gets Refund After Sitting Next to Corpse on Flight

My hairdresser is also a crew manager with a large airline here in the UK (she only does home visits and fits them around her flying schedule) and she has told us about what happens if someone dies onboard.

There are no extra cupboards on planes so if someone dies in their seat on a full flight, the passengers around the body cannot be seated elsewhere and the body cannot be moved so a blanket is put over it until the plane lands. No emergency landings/stops are made if someone dies, the plane continues on to the destination and the body is dealt with there.

If the person dies in the toilet or collapses in the aisle on a full plane, in theory the body should be put back into the seat it occupied before death but this can freak passengers out so if it cannot be done, the body can be dragged into the galley (kitchen) and put in a place that doesn't impede the crew in what they need to do during the flight, such as cooking the meals and bringing out the makeup/booze/cigarette trolley for the passengers. This place is usually a corner where the body is "folded up" and a blanket placed over it.

My hairdresser said that during one flight she went to sit on a storage bin up the corner of the galley to eat her sandwiches and found that she was actually about to sit on the body of an elderly man who had died on the flight two hours earlier. The staff had tucked his arms and legs into the bin but couldn't get the lid on, so had just put a blanket over the bin with the man's head and torso sticking out. She also told me this wasn't an unusual situation.

Her co-workers should have told your friend the body was there!

Can you imagine?

Theres always plenty of extra room in the Galley. On Aeroflot I got a bit of relief by walking back to the galley and chatting with the crew.
