All true. If you're a republican you will realize that the American public (mostly poor or middle class) are seeing the light and I highly doubt you will see another republican president any time in the near future.

For people that have common sense.. The only problem is the republican base doesn't.

Re: The War on the Poor and Working Families

If you need unemployment for more than six months, I'd have to say you're just lazy and not looking for a job. How is not giving people free money keeping them down? I think he's got it backwards. Giving people shit gives them no in incentive to better themselves. Teach a man to work for his money, and he can feed his family for a lifetime. As far as infrastructure, I don't know who's against rebuilding it, but I don't really follow all the politicians. I will say this though... I was in the labor union for years doing road work and 90% of road work in America is done by the union's. How much money do the big unions give politicians? All the campaign contributions they give, they get right back with overpriced contracts for construction.

The "republican vs democrat" paradigm. Keeping us divided and conquered. Keep believing in your respective teams, though. I'm sure they will stop using you, eventually.

Re: The War on the Poor and Working Families

I always find it shocking how some (not all) Americans are completely dismissive of notions such as workers rights and a living wage, particularly shocking given that the sates were at the helm when it came to workers struggles in the late 19th/early 20th century. It could be argued that the 8 hour day only exists thanks to Americans. Shouldn't so called patriots be fiercely proud of this? The very people who deride workers rights and unions tend to be the one who enjoy the freedoms won by such struggles.

The rich/capitalists didn't introduce maternity leave, holiday pay and the eight hour day out of the kindness of their black hearts. It was fought for and won by the workers. A good mate of mine is a city trader (equivalent of Wall Street) and does nothing but slag off unions yet she has had 2 years of the last 4 off on maternity leave!!! I don't want to generalise but I do wonder why some on the right, who are quick to describe themselves as 'patriots', aren't the ones fighting for things like a living wage and free health care

Most of what that guy said is true but his solution to it is way off.

Hey asshole. I was unemployed for 2+years and busted my balls during that time seeking suitable employment. I now have the highest paying job I have ever had so, so much for your ignorant judgements.
