Re: Huge Meteor Over Russia, Sonic Boom. A Shit Your Pants, Holy Cow Event!

Did they not see this coming? They will never give a warning of something like this. Not even a nuclear attack. The reason is that the highways would quickly jam up with people trying to get home or wherever and the cleanup would be much more difficult with all the roads jammed with cars, same goes for a nuclear war, you would know about that when you see the mushroom clouds.

Maybe they did not see this? Maybe they did but count on one thing if we get another one which I believe to be likely since this large comet is passing so close than lets hope it is a small one or we will be shaking hands with the dinosaurs.

I'm guessing there will be a run on local supplies of plywood. Glass orders predicted to rise and plenty of work for the local glaziers.
Until all the window repairs are made there are gonna be alot of very cold people in that city. 0 degrees F. is gonna suck with no windows.

Re: Meteor Shower Over Russia Causes Explosions on the Ground

*UPDATE
  • 950 injured
A regional governor said 950 people have been injured. Russia’s Ministry of Emergencies said at least 82 children were hurt and 34 adults and 12 children were being treated in hospital. Two people are in intensive care.
  • Russian meteor largest in a century
Explosion rivalled nuclear blast, but rock was still too small for advance-warning networks to spot.
The meteor that exploded over Russia this morning was the largest recorded object to strike the Earth in more than a century, scientists say. Infrasound data collected by a network designed to watch for nuclear weapons testing suggests that today's blast released hundreds of kilotonnes of energy. That would make it far more powerful than the nuclear weapon tested by North Korea just days ago and the largest rock crashing on the planet since a meteor broke up over Siberia's Tunguska river in 1908.
  • Soldiers sent to crash site(s), 20,000 rescue workers dispatched
The defence ministry said it had identified a six metre crater near a lake in this region and has sent soldiers to the site of the impact, without giving further details.
The emergencies ministry said that 20,000 rescue workers had been dispatched to help the injured and locate those needing help.
