Wow.

I really hope some reporter somewhere is digging into this like they should be.

Re: UFC Champ Jon Jones Enters Rehab After Testing Positive for Cocaine

Nevada mistakenly tested Jon Jones out of competition for recreational drugs, and they were required by state law to disclose that information. Now some of you Jones haters/ conspiracy theorists think that the NSAC is hiding something.

Jake Shields was recently suspended for six months, he was fined $6 000, and his victory over Ed Herman was changed to a No Contest for using a diuretic. For those of you that don't know what a diuretic is it's a substance that promotes the production of pee, so something as simple as that will get you suspended and fined by these guys.

Funny that jones had no sanction then isn't it? This whole notion that the NSAC can't sanction someone because of out of competition behaviour is bullshit.
They have denied licenses before, and recently called Floyd mayweather in because of some rough sparring in his gym.
There is a clear regulation that states it can take action if it chooses to, and for whatever reason, despite previous precedents, it's choosing not to.

My understanding is that this information ( the failed test ) was only disclosed because a reporter with bloody elbow made a request under the freedom of information Act.
The CIR testing? Still not released, pending another request under the freedom of information act.
Post fight testing? No information released at all.
The only thing you have to go on is the word of the NSAC, there has been zero documentation to back up any CIR testing.

There's still the whole issue of the NSAC disclosing the results to the UFC first, the UFC formulating a PR plan to deal with it before disclosing it, and the announcement that no more pre fight testing will take place........ But that's just a coincidence, right?
Just total coincidence that jones has to disappear to rehab, well out of reach of any questions or further testing right?
Just like everything else the UFC does, it was masterful........ Genius really. It's how you get to the top and stay there.

When I get a chance I'll post up some interesting statistics regarding the percentage of MMA competitors that have been caught by the California commission, compared to the NSAC.

Either the California commission does an outstanding job, or..........

He has a cocaine habit so severe that his test levels are that of an 80 year old woman, and despite that he retains his title AND kicks his habit in less than 24 hours....... That's just fucking amazing.

You make some good points, rob, however most of the things you're staying is your opinion on what's going on. Fact is Navada can not revoke your fighters license for failing an out of competition, recreational drug test. The UFC could have suspended Jon but they remained silent till after the fight most likely due to the fact that this was one of the most anticipated UFC is recent years.

Nevada's regulatory code is not perfect by any stretch. They abide by the guidelines set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). In other ways, they don't. For example, they still employ a 6:1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) standard for violation when WADA is now 4:1.

That's the main reason why Georges St-Pierre took an indefinite leave of absence from mixed martial arts. He thinks major changes are still needed in how the sport conducts its drug testing and I agree 100% with him. We just can't go around accusing people of taking PED's unless they actually fail a performance enhancing drug test.

The NSAC can suspend any combat fighters licence, or levy a fine, or whatever is chooses to do

When Jones and Cormier got into the pre fight brawl, they were both fined and a suspension was discussed.

Essentially what it boils down to is how much money your fight is going to generate for Vegas and the state. Lesser known guys can be denied a licence for just about anything reasonable, but Mayweather gets a licence while he's waiting to serve his prison term for beating up his girlfriend.

Its all about dollars.
If you're bringing in the bucks, people are more likely to help you out
No big conspiracy really, its just the way business works.

No rob you blatantly accused Jon Jones for using PED's and that's not the way business works. That's how rumors start. As of now and until the post fight test are in, JJ has been caught using a recreational drug. That's it. End of story. Your conspiracy theories mean fuck all here.

Had he not tested positive, would there still be a rehab trip? This is a re-occurring pattern, tests positive ("oh shit, ive been found out) - rehab stint...

http://www.subjectmma.com/explained-...-test-scandal/

This is exactly how the fight business works.

Always has, always will.

Being caught really doesn't mean shit when the agency doing the testing doesn't want to catch you.
After all the athletes that have tested positive, that everybody knew was a cheat, its pretty plain to everybody with even half a brain that the guys taking drugs are always 1 step ahead of the guys testing for drugs....... The only way to get caught is to fuck up somehow.
Overeem and his "horsemeat"....... Look at lance Armstrong, he had the Worlds best chasing him for years before he finally got caught.

I'm not accusing him of taking anything, that would be libel....... The only thing I've said is that there is an unprecedented set of circumstances going on, and his hormone levels are typical of someone that could be using a PED.
