People coming into your yard, uninvited? Causing damage and refusing to leave?
There would be some serious physical altercations happening if that was here.

Even if it was an apartment complex, if the crashes don't live there and weren't invited, they are trespassing.
The video is taken from a street, not someone's yard.

If the bank robber walks out on the street, you apprehend him.

Does that also give you the right to tell anybody else in the vicinity to "go home"?

Does the refusal to leave a public area make you a suspect?
If you're told to leave, best to do it, or you could legally be detained for obstruction of an investigation.

What is with today's extreme anti-authoritarian that they simply can't take verbal commands from local law enforcements?

Seriously, why must people ask for the trouble, then whine about it when they get it?

These cops were called to a scene, mostly by panicky idiot homeowners telling the operators of not just "trespassers" but of fights, theft, and harassment complaints. There were upwards to 70 people reported there, all bouncing around like wild morons. Don't you think it would be right that these people at least show the cops the common courtesy of being calm about it, letting them perform their investigations?

In most cases, trespassing is consider such a minor offense, they tend to give them the option to go. (i doubt he meant literally go to her home, but more so to leave the scene). In many states, before any formal charges could be filed against anyone, an peace officer must first verbally warn the person to leave, and if the perp returns, or refuses, then there can be formal charges pressed.

That cop really said "You got me runnin' around in 30 pounds worth of gear..."

That's your JOB, coward! That alone tells me you ain't fit for the gig.

Cop was really mad because the kids ran....So he blatantly TOLD THEM they got that treatment for making him run with 30 pounds of gear.

Oh yeah, the white kids just standing around filming checking on their black friends that are abused & running and scared for their lives.

Texas officers showed more respect to the "rowdy bikers" after a deadly shoot out than kids at a pool party.

Obstruction of an investigation? By being present on public property? That's a new one.

Common courtesy aside, it's a point of law.

I wouldn't act like that, I wouldn't be an asshole like that on someone else's property, and I'm not condoning that behaviour.

When you're detained in Canada you have to be informed why you're being detained.

He didn't say she was being detained for trespass.

In any case, the cop resigned, so read into that what you will The police Chief said that the departments policies and training didn't support his actions, that he came into the call out of control and was out of control during the incident.

*obstruction of justice (universal description) figured you could recognize the two as the same.

Well In america, you can be detained, THEN informed. If we really want to debate it deeper, once an officer places any physical grasp on a person, they can be detained for as long as the investigation is taking place, up to but not exceeding 72 hours.

He resigned, because of the racial stigma the media added to it. Who wants to be a national spot light with that in the wake of all the other bullshit?

Had it been a pile of white kids, everyone would have been making statements of: How they (the kids) should have known better than to put themselves in that position. Let's face it, had the stupid kid been at home updating her facebook, instead of hopping fences to swim in other people's pool, she would not have ate dirt that day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know kids will be kids, i've been there myself. But don't you think things would have been better IF THESE idiot kids had ANY respect for authority?

It's a shame our society is being selective on who should be taking responsibility for their own actions, and whatever consequences stem from them.
