Swiss Nurse in Trouble After Posing with Corpse on Facebook

Quote:

A nurse in Switzerland is under fire for posting pictures of herself sitting next to a corpse, giving credence to the thought that Facebook has completely ruined human decency.

The nurse, whose identity has not been revealed, is accused of uploading the picture with herself next to the corpse of an old woman on Friday. The country's national nurse federation condemned the actions, saying it was "shocked and saddened."

Several pictures circulated on Facebook of the nurse in an elderly care center in St. Gallen, a small town near the Austrian border. City prosecutors are considering starting a criminal investigation regarding the incident. The specific location of the hospital was not released.

What's with people who take pictures posing with their dead relatives at the funeral?

Re: Swiss Nurse in Trouble After Posing with Corpse on Facebook

Although perhaps not in the best of taste, I kind of get it, if it is a relative, unless it is a baby who didn't make it.

At first, I found that morbid, but, mothers have a right to remember a baby they carried for what is usually about 6 to 9 months, even if he or she didn't live. Things go wrong

Personally, I prefer to remember the good times when my loved ones were alive.

Kind of like the memento mori (or whatever it's called) they used to make in the 19th century. They would pose with deceased relatives. Interesting to look at, if not a bit creepy.

Some of those old black and whites and sepia tones are very cool.

A few of them were creepy like one where they painted eyes on the dead child.

I dont see where this says its a relative... however in old countries, its common to take photos of the dead kinda as "proof" they are gone. My family still does this and sends over the photo to our relatives overseas who werent here for the funeral. Even though I am accustomed to it, I still get a little embarrassed when others at the funeral wonder whats going on with all the photos.
