Re: Shooting at Portland Mall

From what I understand his gun jammed before he could continue shooting. He then decided to off himself like the coward he was.

Re: Shooting at Portland Mall

This happened an hour away from me. A friend was working there when it happened, thankfully she's safe. The reason he only killed two people was the gun jammed.

He died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds but they aren't sure if it was suicidal, could have been an accident. (I'm betting on a suicide)

Pretty crazy. Glad the fucker's dead though

You gotta admit though those conceal/open carry permits Americans love so much dont work when mass murderers rear their heads.

Yet it is the #1 reason why they want them.

How many mass shootings were stopped by somebody with a legal firearm whilst out and about?

thats such a general argument.. who needs a drivers license? bad drivers are still on the road and there are over 1000 accidents everyday.. nothing works absolutely..

it actually happens more then you'd think but the news doesnt cover stories like that to the same extent...like this one... a 71 year old concealed carrying gentlemen stopped an armed robber at an internet cafe. total new time was only 41 seconds....only 11 seconds longer then the commercial before it.

You do realize he stole the weapon, right? He didn't even purchase it legally. And just because a person may carry a weapon on them doesn't mean they'll be able to stop a murderer with a goddamn AR-15.

Shit happens and it's better to be over prepared than under.

Spoken like an envious Brit whose own government has cut off his bollocks.

Re: Shooting at Portland Mall

I wasn't there so I don't know exactly how it went down but..
why didn't anyone try to stop him? He would be very vulnerable from behind, I can't imagine every single person was more than 15ft away and in front of him.

He must have been too nervous or a horrible shot. Thousands of targets, in large groups in confined spaces and 3 were hit out of up to 10,000 with "as many as 60 shots".

There is more gun violence per capita in the states than there is in Canada.

We have more guns per person than you guys do.

I guess the difference is, we don't run around with assault rifles and handguns.

It's really hard to get a handgun permit here, and you can't get anything that's fully automatic, as well as clips being limited to 10 shots or something.

One of my friends has a semi-auto AK, with a 10 shot clip.
He said you can remove a part of the clip to make it a full 30 rounds.

it's super hard and very expensive to get anything that's full auto here. you have to apply for a class III weapons license from BATF and you have to pay to get a permit for every full auto weapon you own. i know a ton of gun enthusiasts and i have never once seen a full auto gun.

handguns are easy enough to get....just a background check and a waiting period here...and so called 'assault rifles' (really, they are meant to be sporting and hunting rifles) are even easier to get.
