I agree. I understand what you are saying....now help me understand something. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really trying to understand this, because I don't.

This young lady, will now be treated as a boy, and he will look and dress as a boy.

So,

Will he be labeled a male or female for school purposes?

What restroom will he/she use in school/public?
I mean, if he believes he is a boy, I would assume he would use the male bathroom, but at school that might not be encouraged.

Will he hide his developing breasts or what happens when he starts his period? Will he reject that, because it's a female issue.

Will he want a "girlfriend" (as most young kids want once they get into school) Obviously not serious but you know what I mean. It begins in elementary school, with cute little crushes.

OR, am I looking at this wrong. Meaning, this has nothing to do with this kid eventually wanting a 'girlfriend' or any of the above mentioned things, just wants to know he "feels" like a male.

Please, unconfuse me.

im not sure how that will or should work, honestly i had the same thoughts... what about the bathroom issue? what about sports? what about physical development? im not very informed as to what children with gender issues have to deal with as far as that goes.... but i can imagine certain alternatives that i personally would take, like putting my child into at home public school, for example.

it's a hard issue because our society is set up with a binary gender system that isnt very accommodating to those that dont fit into that system.

as for the girlfriend part, im not sure. who knows where their sexuality will lead them... they might end up pansexual and not care what gender their partners are. i dont think the child is thinking about that right now but it will be an issue soon enough, for sure.

I think that's where I get confused. Right now it's about being a "boy", but nothing to do with sexual preference (I believe what you said in an earlier post). It just does not seem to be as cut & dry as that little speech made it seem, there are so many layers yet to be peeled away. I agree with you, I would pull my kid out from school and home school him/her at that point. I would imagine this does not sit well with some of the parents/kids at that school, as I'm sure it's very confusing and what bathroom to use is just the tip of the iceberg.

I think it's fine. As long as they're not going for hormones or surgery; those kind of decisions should be made by the kid when they're legally an adult.

That is the way I saw it. Much better than suicide and losing your child.

I agree the media attention may be worse for the child.

My nephew once tried on a skirt to spin around and feel what it was like when it blew up. He's heterosexual and has a beautiful daughter.

A friend's son, about 6 or 7, once came over with pink nail polish. He also could use a hula hoop. He would call every Sunday to come over for pancakes.

I believe he knew he was gay.

He was in the military, married a gay female for insurance, and is now a chef.

Kids are usually accepting of everything. They are taught prejudice.

The parents are the ones with the issues in most cases.
