Bred to kill other dogs. I don't know how someone could be so stupid to let a dog that strong run free.

Re: Family Stunned Following Dog Attack

My neighbor has two. They are her "babies". Personally, I'm terrified of them because of how aggressive they are, despite being in a harness/leash at all times when out in public. Shit like this just makes it harder to be open minded about that breed. She swears they are perfect pets, and it's all how they are raised etc, but there will always be that doubt in my mind.

Whoa, Nelly. These seem like the kind of people who'd leave a horse head in your bed while you slept...

Re: Family Stunned Following Dog Attack

That's just sad. I couldn't imagine if this were to happen to my dog. Some idiots out there just shouldn't be allowed to handle breeds like this

Re: Family Stunned Following Dog Attack

My neighbor has a pit bull that is fear aggressive and will come at you, barking - instead of moving away. She said she got the puppy because it was quiet and shy(the only one like that in the litter).

RED FLAG!

In a breed supposed to be confident, energetic and people loving - shy and quiet is not what you should be looking for.

I haven't seen the dog in awhile, so hopefully she keeps it contained. I often think about what I might have to do if he's ever loose and I'm outside the fence with one of my 3 dogs(Pit Bull, 2 Boxers). I'm in a wheelchair, so my dog is always strapped to me - never loose or on a long lead. I'll just have to pull out my knife and fight for my dog.
Fuck. I hope that never happens.

Are her dogs aggressive, or do you mean the breed in general?

If her dogs are not acting aggressive, I wouldn't worry about it. Go by the dog's behavior, not by generalization. They aren't unpredictable. A dog's intentions are very predictable.

Re: Family Stunned Following Dog Attack

Any dog that engages in such a violent, unprovoked attack needs to be put down. This is the result of breeding violence into this powerful, willfull breed. Tragic for the family. But tragic too, another blemish on the record of the APBT.
