Whatever, just as long as it's disease free.

Re: 14 Year Old Ban Lifted in China.

They are supposed to screen for diseases, but, who knows anymore? When I was having nasal surgery, I donated my own blood, which means it's not tested. My doctor assured me the chances of me needing it were highly unlikely, but, being that 0.01% with a reaction to nearly everything, I gave me own.

After that, they either use it for research or discard it, but, they don't test it to give to a person needing blood.

I'm B+, if anyone needs blood ;)

I don't get it, but, that's what my hospital or doctor told me when I told them they could have the blood.

They won't take my husband's because he has siezures... even when they were taking blood from people with HIV and AIDS.

People out here will also flip out if they identify themselves as "a good ol' boy" and find out their blood comes from a person of a different color, sexuality, or religion.

Why would it be any different in another country? Fear is fear.
WTF? They take blood from people with HIV? Does that go only to people who are already infected?

It was after 9/11/01. When they started taking whatever they could for the injured. Still wouldn't take Odie's, even though he'd been seizure free at that point for eight or nine months.

My mother had went to donate two years later at a local blood drive when she found out she was a carrier for Hepititis.

the local blood drive where I live now doesn't like to take my neighbor's blood because he has so much iron in him. He gets them to take it anyway because it makes him feel better to get rid of some of the excess iron. They still toss it later. though, I don't see why they wouldn't take it to use on someone who's iron deficient and same blood type.

I'm such a light weight when it comes to loosing blood of my own, I only gave a what they wanted for drug tests before entering school soccer and hockey teams, and once before securing a job.

Me, too. I am way overdue!

I like that they take the blood, then ask you to choose a sticker, if you think you may have HIV or not.

Why would you donate and then tell they they can't use it?

Re: 14 Year Old Ban Lifted in China.

What a ridiculous ruling. Do they not realise that straight men and women can get HIV and AIDS too? As long as the blood is screened I don't see why it matters where it actually comes from.

Re: 14 Year Old Ban Lifted in China.

The governm. held up a ban cause of possible health risks in case of undetected hiv contaminated blood etc. but i'm sure a lot of people wud not choose to get blood from gay people or from a different race out of fear becoming gay or talk ghetto all of a sudden.lol
