why do we hate and fear

I read this in a forum while looking for something else. This was written by someone in some third world shit hole. I thought it was insightful.

What is it about you guys [the United States] that means you have to hate and fear as much as you do? You're a brilliant nation with abundant resources and a low population density. You're all educated, or at least taught, to a reasonably high level. Individually, you're courageous, confident and honest. Yet your government treats you as if you should all be afraid of the big wide world.

It saddens me. You are No. 1, and you deserve to be. But why do so many of you revel in ignorance?

I blame ignorance to bible thumpers and low/no education caused by poverty.

If you struggle to survive (esp. in a rich country) you're usally not interested in foreign countries/people but you're totally occupied by how to get money to get you through the day.
