anybody looking for a job .......  Quote: Bavarian Town Seeks Goose Chaser The mayor of a town bordering on the popular Chiemsee lake has a novel solution to stopping the messy invasion of around 100 geese on the lake's shores -- hire a goose chaser.
The impetuous geese patrolling the shores of the popular Bavarian tourist destination, leaving their droppings here and there, might soon have a new foe: one of the region's jobless. 
Frustrated at the mess left behind by around 100 geese, Mayor Florian Hoffmann of the town of Rimsting, which borders on the lake, turned to the local job agency for help.
The solution? An unemployed person will shoo away the geese -- and receive government money to do so.
The part-time job program, designed to top up the welfare payments of long-term unemployed, will pay the goose chaser €1 ($1.37) an hour, for a 30-hour week.
Though low-paying, the position is assured for the coming weeks -- at least until the September, when the weather turns.  |
